Why we built it

Children grow into themselves out loud. The way they say a word that isn't a word. What they care about this week. What scared them at the playground. The small things stack up — until one day the parent realizes they can't remember any of them.

Camera rolls don't help. They're full of pictures and empty of stories. Notes apps don't help either — by the time you've opened one and typed a sentence, the moment is gone.

Living Library is a quiet place to put those moments before they leave. Tap the mic, tell the story, and we keep it. That's the whole product.

How it works in the app

Onboarding takes about a minute: a name, a date of birth, an optional photo. The library builds itself around that child.

Then you record. The microphone is the front door — voice memories transcribe automatically, photos and short notes attach to the same moment, and everything lands on a timeline grouped by month.

A milestone tracker sits beside the timeline, organized by age range. First words, first steps, first day of school — celebrate the standard ones, add your own. Collections let you group memories by theme: first year, summer trips, the made-up words.

Built for the whole family

Living Library is for everyone who shows up for a child — parents, grandparents, godparents, aunts and uncles. Family sharing is rolling out in the next major release; for now your library is just for you.

When sharing is on, parents control who has access, and nothing is public by default. Every memory is private until you explicitly choose otherwise.

What it isn't

Living Library isn't social media. There's no feed for strangers. There are no ads. Your memories aren't a product we sell.

It also isn't a productivity app. There are no streaks or guilt-trips. Skip a week. Skip a month. The library is still here when you come back.
